Kent Trading Standards have warned of bogus callers in the Gravesham and Ashford areas asking homeowners if they would like their drive repaired. The group in Gravesham have been described as being male with Irish accents. In the Ashford area there have been reports of two men, one who had what was believed to be an Eastern European accent and one with an East Anglian accent. They were driving a white estate car with a motorway maintenance sign on it.
Trading Standards advise people to be wary of cold callers and if in doubt have the confidence to say no. They also recommend that should you want to have work done it is best to get quotes in writing from traders recommended by friends and family. Take time to make your decision.
If in any doubt call Consumer Direct for advice on 08454 04 05 06 or if you are concerned call the police.
