Campaigners in Woking were delighted on Monday when Party President Simon Hughes MP arrived to help launch their campaigning as part of the Party's " We can cut crime" campaign.
Simon spent over four hours in the constituency and during that time he met local Police Community Support Officers, saw first hand a Speedwatch Campaign in Horsell, visited elderly people in sheltered accommodation and joined a canvassing team. He later met local candidates and activists and gave a rallying speech before rushing back to the House to take part in a debate on Mental Health
Rosie Sharpley, PPC for Woking was delighted that Simon could find the time from his very busy schedule to visit Woking. She states that Woking took minority control of the Council last May and the Lib Dems are well on course to take overall control of the Council in May 2007. Simon's message was to be clear and positive with our messages and advised councillors keep up with their case work. The public have been very responsive to this campaign and activists are very pleased with the range of resources provided to support them.
